APC Deliveries

Important Changes to APC Deliveries during The Coronovirus Infection

To protect APC drivers and customers alike from the risk of coronavirus infection whilst delivering parcels, we will be making a temporary change to the POD signature requirements. In short, we will not ask the consignee to touch/sign a mobile device to confirm delivery but will do so on their behalf.  This means that, whilst the driver will obtain and enter the name of the person accepting the delivery, there will be no signature from the consignee on the electronic POD.

This change comes into effect from Saturday 14th March 2020 until further notice.

We will continue to differentiate between leave safe and signature parcels.

For deliveries requiring a signature i.e. No ‘Leave Safe’ instructions

Deliveries to Business Premises

  • The driver will ask the consignee where they would like us to place the parcel, maintaining a 2-metre distance wherever possible.
  • The driver will explain to the consignee that, because we are taking extra precautions over coronavirus, we do not require a signature.
  • The driver will ask the recipient for their name and enter it on their behalf into the surname field on the mobile device.
  • The driver will enter ‘CV’ into the signature field.  The consignee will be unable to sign for the parcel themselves.

For Deliveries to Residential Addresses

  • The driver will place the parcel on the doorstep.
  • They will knock the door.
  • The driver will step back two metres.
  • The driver will explain to the occupant that due to extra precautions over coronavirus, we will not require a signature.
  • The driver will ask the recipient for their name and enter it on their behalf into the surname field on the mobile device.
  • The driver will enter ‘CV’ into the signature field.  The consignee will be unable to sign for the parcel themselves.

If no one answers the door, a card will be left in the normal manner and the parcel returned to base.

For ‘Leave Safe’ parcels that have specific leave safe instructions in the Special Instruction Field

  • The driver will leave the parcel in a safe place.
  • They will put a card through the door stating where they have left the parcel.
  • They will take a photograph showing the parcel and surrounding environment to identify the ‘leave safe’ location.

In the event of a claim for non-delivery on the “Signature Required” parcels, we will use GPS data to confirm the location of the driver at the time of delivery.
